Tirzepatide injection is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is used together with diet and exercise to help control your blood sugar. Tirzapatide is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.
Tirzepatide injection is also used to help lose weight and keep the weight off in patients with obesity caused by certain conditions.

Appropriate studies have not been performed on the relationship of age to the effects of tirzepatide injection in the pediatric population. Safety and efficacy have not been established.
Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated geriatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of tirzepatide injection in the elderly. However, elderly patients are more sensitive to the effects of this medicine than younger adults.
